Taryn Minter
Attorney
Taryn Criswell Minter was born and raised in Plainview, Texas. After graduating from Plainview High School, she attended Texas A&M University (Gig Em!) where she majored in English Literature. From there she moved to Houston where she attended South Texas College of Law.
In January 2009, she began as an Associate Attorney with Stephen D. Jackson & Associates in Conroe, Texas. At this firm she practiced exclusively family law in Montgomery, Harris and surrounding counties.
In 2016, Taryn and her family decided to move back to Plainview and on January 2, 2017, she opened Taryn Minter Law. Since opening her own firm, she has continued specializing in Family Law, as well as offering services in probate, guardianships and estate planning matters.
Along with running her private practice full-time, in January 2024, Taryn accepted and began a part-time position with the 110th Judicial District as the Assistant District Attorney which serves Floyd, Briscoe, Motley and Dickens counties. She is also the County Attorney for Briscoe County.
Taryn Minter Law is ready to assist you in family, probate and estate planning matters. Her staff in Plainview is present in the office everyday and in Floydada on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She can also meet with clients by appointment in Silverton on Thursdays.
Taryn is married to Chad Minter, who is an insurance agent with Texas Farm Bureau in Floydada. The reside in Aiken and they have two daughters, Delaney (12 years old) and Ainsley (10 years old). Taryn is an avid reader and enjoys spending time outdoors.
Emily Allen
Paralegal
Emily Allen has lived in Plainview, Texas since she was 9 years old. After graduating from Plainview High School, she attended Wayland Baptist University where she played volleyball for 4 years and majored in Sociology.
Emily began working for Taryn Minter Law in September 2022 as a paralegal. Prior to this, she worked for St. Francis Ministries as a caseworker and supervisor. Emily maintains and oversees all of the family law cases for the firm. Her primary duties include drafting, assisting in trial preparation and communicating with clients.
Emily is married to Shannon Allen, who manages their yard business, Allen Lawn Solutions. They reside in Plainview, and have one son, Easton, who is 6 years old. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Erica Vizcaino
Legal Assistant – Hale County
Erika Vizcaino was born and raised in Plainview, Texas. She graduated from Plainview High School in 2007. From there, she began working in the field of assisted living until she began working for Taryn in February 2020 as a legal assistant and the first employee of Taryn Minter Law.
Erika’s duties consist of answering phones, organizing and managing files, client communication and managing the firm’s calendar and schedule. She also oversees the probate and estate planning files for the office.
Erika is married to Daniel Aguilar. They reside in Plainview and have 5 children. She enjoys going on vacation with her family and being outdoors.
Laura Cruz
Legal Assistant – Floyd County
Laura was born and raised in Floydada. She graduated from Floydada High School and continues to reside there. She runs the Floydada office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Mondays and Wednesdays she works in the Floyd County District Attorneys Office at the courthouse.
Laura’s duties consist of client communication, organizing files and drafting pleadings as necessary for our Floyd, Motley, Briscoe and Dickens County clients.
She enjoys sports and spending time with her family. She has three children, all of whom attend Floydada schools.
